Michigan Apples,
Shipped Worldwide
For as long as we’ve marketed apples, we’ve shipped them overseas. Export is core to Riveridge — and we’ve delivered Michigan-grown fruit to more than 20 countries.
Why Michigan?
Lake-Driven Flavor
Michigan apples are known for excellent color and outstanding flavor, thanks to our Lake Michigan-driven climate. Cool nights, warm days, and lake-effect humidity build the sugar, acidity, and color profile global buyers expect.
Our central location is a logistical advantage too. We ship efficiently to eastern and southern U.S. ports for ocean freight, with shorter inland transit than most West Coast packers.
Scale & Supply
More Than Michigan
We market more than 60% of Michigan’s apple crop, plus volumes from Wisconsin, New York, and New England — so we can supply the varieties, volumes, and pack styles global customers need.
Export Reach
Where Our Apples Travel
Riveridge apples are especially prominent in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a long history shipping into Mexico. Mexico-bound fruit requires phytosanitary protocols including extended cold treatment. If that’s a destination of interest, reach out and we’ll walk you through the process.
In past seasons we’ve shipped to the United Kingdom, Russia, the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia, reaching more than 20 countries while meeting each market’s specifications and expectations. Our destinations shift year to year based on volume, sizing, color, and demand.
Note for buyers: Export protocols and destination requirements vary by country and shift season to season. We work directly with you to confirm what’s possible for your market before contracts.
Food Safety, Compliance & Storage
Inspected. Certified. Cold-Stored.
Food Safety & Compliance
Every export load is inspected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for quality. Facilities are USDA-inspected annually, alongside commercial food safety audits such as PrimusGFS.
Each shipment ships with a phytosanitary certificate verifying it’s free of pests and disease and meets destination requirements.
Storage & Quality Control
Apples are stored in controlled atmosphere (CA) rooms and opened strategically for packing. Rooms are staged based on QC conducted at harvest.
That ensures we pack the best fruit at the right time and maintain consistent quality from August through May.
Industry Partnerships & Trade
Active in the Global Apple Trade
Riveridge is a proud member of the U.S. Apple Export Council, which promotes U.S. apples globally, coordinates trade missions, and hosts international buyers at U.S. orchards.
